Overview

This compact upcycle project proves that even the simplest furniture refresh can bring new life to a space. An outdated, dark-varnished coffee table was transformed with a lighter, more contemporary look — perfect for a cozy, interior. The result is a piece that feels airy, modern, and reimagined.

Scope of Work

  • Furniture assessment & prep
  • Full sanding and surface stripping
  • Side panel painting in a soft, neutral tone
  • Wood bleaching on the tabletop slab
  • Protective finish with high-quality furniture wax

Key Features

  • Bleached wood top for a lighter, natural effect
  • Painted base for subtle contrast
  • Finished with a nourishing sealant for hydration and longevity
  • A modern yet timeless aesthetic

Design Focus

The goal was to brighten and soften the look of a dated piece without losing its character. The bleaching technique gave the table a raw, organic feel, while the painted sides added contrast and balance. Practical tips were kept in mind — including rehydrating the wood post-bleach for a lasting finish.
